Ours Goals
Our courses provides the basic knowledge to establish a firm foundation for a career as a professional commercial sUAS pilot. This is accomplished by the familiarization with regulations (14 CFR Part 107), airspace classification, operating requirements, and flight restrictions, aviation weather sources and effects of weather on sUAS, sUAS loading, emergency procedures, crew resource management, radio communication procedures, performance of sUAS, physiological effects of drugs and alcohol, aeronautical decision making and judgment, airport operations, and maintenance and preflight inspection procedures. Successful passage of FAA Remote Pilot UAS rating certificate should place students in a positive position for employment in the commercial sUAS field upon graduation.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon course completion, students will be able to:
Demonstrate a working knowledge of applicable regulations relating to small unmanned aircraft system rating privileges, limitations, and flight operations.
Explain the United States airspace classification, operating requirements, and flight restrictions affecting small unmanned aircraft operation.
Demonstrate the ability to distinguish between aviation weather sources and effects of weather on small unmanned aircraft performance.
Explain small unmanned aircraft loading.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of emergency procedures.
Define and apply crew resource management.
Understand radio communication procedures.
Determine the performance of small unmanned aircraft.
Explain the FAA aeromedical factors.
Define and apply aeronautical decision making and judgment.
Explain airport operations.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of maintenance and preflight inspection procedures.
In the classroom, we work some team problem-solving exercises. Each student is expected to participate fully and enthusiastically in the team’s deliberative process in these exercises and to speak for the team on occasion.
Outside flying, students will be paired into two person flight crews, learn pre-flight setup, checklist, and basic flight maneuvers. Students will have an opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom in assortment of exercise as they fly.
